In this series of edited photos of my cat, I used Adobe Lightroom to create a serene. By applying a blue filter and adjusting the color balance, I shifted the mood from bright and lively to calm and introspective. I also removed distracting elements from the background to focus solely on the subject, allowing the viewer to engage more intimately with the cat’s presence. The final images, with their cool, subdued lighting, offer a peaceful contrast to the original, brighter photos, illustrating how digital edits can significantly alter the emotional impact of a portrait.

Split lighting

Lighting is essential to my portrait photography, and I focus on three key techniques: Rembrandt lighting, split lighting, and backlighting. Each method not only enhances the visual appeal but also shapes the mood of my images. To achieve Rembrandt lighting, I positioned the light source at a 45-degree angle from my subject. This created a distinctive triangle of light on the cheek, adding depth and intimacy. Another type of lighting I used is utilizing split lighting, I illuminated one side of the subject's face while casting the other in shadow. This dramatic contrast highlights features and adds a dynamic element to the portrait. my last type of lighting I used was Incorporating backlighting, I placed the light behind the subject, creating a soft halo effect. This technique adds an ethereal quality, infusing the portraits with a sense of lightness and joy. The glow around the subject invites a sense of wonder and happiness, making the images feel uplifting and happiness, making the images feel uplifting and celebratory.
